Testing of Materials


  • This mainly covers a basic introduction into the types of testing that could be done on a material
  • Most of these will be covered in detail later in Module 3 and Module 4.
  • Materials testing can be separated into two types: Destructive and Non-Destructive
    • Destructive testing is where load is put onto a material until it breaks.
    • Non-destructive testing involves using an external device to examine the faults without destroying the material.
